Easy Hamburger Rice Casserole

• 1 pound ground beef
• 2 cups (370 g) uncooked long-grain white rice
• 2 cans (10.5 ounces each) French onion soup
• 2 cans (10.5 ounces each) beef consommé
• 1/2 cup (1 stick / 113 g) unsalted butter, sliced
• Chopped chives for garnish (optional)

1. Preheat the oven to 425°F. I’ll coat a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray and set it aside.
2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, I’ll cook the ground beef until it’s browned and no longer pink (8-10 minutes). I’ll drain excess grease.
3. I’ll transfer the browned ground beef to the prepared baking dish. Then, I’ll add uncooked rice, French onion soup, and beef consommé. I’ll stir to mix everything together.
4. Next, I’ll place slices of butter on top of the rice mixture.
5. I’ll cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
6. After 30 minutes, I’ll remove the foil and continue baking uncovered for an additional 30 minutes or until the rice is cooked through and tender.
7. Finally, I’ll fluff the rice and serve, optionally garnishing with chives.
